Responsibilities & Qualifications
Assess and chart observations of the patient’s condition at each visit.
Notify physician immediately of a change of patient’s condition.
Provide outstanding care according to the plan of care.
Complete evaluation tasks, including reviewing medication and vital signs.
Administer Physician-prescribed medication if applicable.
Dress or redress wounds and assess the healing progress.
Provide patients and families teaching using proper home care procedures and strategies.
Coordinate with Physicians, Physical Therapists, and other individuals in the patient’s care plan.
Keep the patient comfortable through palliative care.
Recommend tools or devices that may improve the quality of life for the patient.
Functional Abilities
RN MUST BE very comfortable with the following skills:
Tracheostomy assessment and care
Chest tube assessment and care
Percutaneous cholecystostomy tube care
Cranial nerve assessment
braden scale
Glascoma scale
Heart sounds (S1 and S2) assessment
Urinary catheters (including suprapubic) insertion and care
Bowel and bladder training program
Wound assessment and care
Wound vac dressing change (hemovac, penrose)
Pressure ulcer assessment
Specimen collection for lab
Enteral feedings
Oxygen therapy
Cardiology assessment
PICC line maintenance
Infusion therapy
Respiratory Assessment
Nephrostomy care
Ostomy/ileostomy care and much more…
General Requirements
RN license with the state of NC.
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience; home care a plus.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.
Must possess strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
